Racing Trivia and Track Photo Quiz [Skip Barber - the Man]
Okay,
I will start off on Harsha's idea from Doug's photo and track map contest. Doug feel free to place this thread where you think it is most appropriate. How many Grand Prix and which did our namesake and founder start in? (you may actually need to look this up) And bonus question. What were his finishing positions? |

I don't think Ms Juicy ever drove a race car......a few drivers maybe, but not a car.

Barber started racing in 1958 while studying at Harvard University, where he earned a degree in English. In the mid-1960s, he won three SCCA national championships in a row and finished third in the 1967 United States Road Racing Championship. Later, Barber went on to win consecutive Formula Ford National Championships (1969 and 1970), a record tied only recently. At the start of the 1971 season he purchased a March 711, which he planned to take back to the United States and race in the U.S. Formula 5000 series. Before he did so, he took part in the Monaco Grand Prix, Dutch Grand Prix, United States Grand Prix, and Canadian Grand Prix in a privately funded March Engineering. He returned to the U.S. and Canadian races again in 1972. After that he raced GT cars. Retirement leads to Skip Barber Racing When his racing career ended, Barber's belief that auto racing was "coachable" in the same manner as any other sport -- at the time, a distinctly minority position -- led him to create the eponymously named Racing School, and a year later, the equal-car Race Series. In 1975, with two borrowed Lola Formula Fords and four students, Barber started the Skip Barber School of High Performance Driving. In 1976, it was renamed the Skip Barber Racing School and that same year, he created the Skip Barber Race Series. Barber remains active in motorsports today as the owner and operator of Lime Rock Park, a road racing venue in the northwest hills of Connecticut. He lives in the nearby town of Sharon, with wife Judy. |

Re: Racing Trivia and Track Photo Quiz
OK, is anybody going to tell the story about Skip and the Blonde or is this like asking about the watermelon in the fish tank (cannot remember the name of the movie). :)

Re: Racing Trivia and Track Photo Quiz
ok, ok, ok... here goes:
Skip had a meeting in the Chrysler building in the city a few years back, and as he gets into the elevator a stunning 22 year old blonde girl gets on as well. She starts staring and smiling at him, and says "You're Skip Barber, aren't you?". After he says 'yes', with a sultry look she says "Can I give you a blow job?" He looks at her straight in the eyes, and says... "What's in it for me?" (this is a satyrical post, and is no way intended to represent this event as factual, or anything else I could be sued for...) |

Re: Racing Trivia and Track Photo Quiz
A quick version-
When I started racing in '03, a bunch of us (who would become the first members of TJR) became very close friends both at the track and off. Our racing and party stories were becoming ever more colorful, and these stories and pictures etc were being emailed all around. We decided to make a name for this little group, and one particular incident gave use the perfect choice: In 2003, we used to race with Marco Andretti in the Eastern Regionals. Between one of the sessions at Tremblant that year, we were all sitting on the pit wall, chatting, when this hot little blonde girl (perfect stripper) with fake boobs, a cut-off t-shirt, and a pair of white velour sweat pants starts walking towards us... 'Who (and what) the hell is that?!' 'That's Marco's Mom. I mean Step-Mom.' And as she walks by, on the back of her little pants and right on her ass in big old english letters was the word "Juicy"...(as in Juicy Couture, the clothing line) That was the perfect name for the group, so we called ourselves "Team Juicy". The website developed shortly after, and started out as a simple place to memorialize the stories, pictures and emails of our antics. But of course we had to take it too far, like we do everything else.. and voila, four years later you have TJR.com like you see it now. If you search around the site, there's more info on her (search for Leslie), but here's an early thread with some stuff: http://www.teamjuicyracing.com/forum...read.php?t=400 |

(exact quote, I swear) "About Juicy: Once upon a time, in a land far away called Pacoima, there were two nice girls who set out to create the perfect girlie collection. Juicy Couture swept the land and they lived happily ever after." Now I know why you chose the name. I looked all over the site but, to my chagrin, couldn't find any pictures of the two being happy together. But thanks Unca Sy for such nice bedtime stories. Sweet dreams! |

Re: Racing Trivia and Track Photo Quiz [Skip Barber - the Man]
Quick update,
If you google Leslie Andretti (http://www.google.com/search?client=...utf-8&oe=utf-8) the first link is "We need pictures of Leslie Andretti from Tremblant 2003!" I must say, what a great way to get a name for this site!! Have a happy. . . Vinay |

Unfortunately, probably no one is googling "Leslie" Andretti. 'cept us. Now if we could just get it to come up when you googled "Andretti"... |
