What makes absolutely no sense in the explanation is in their diagram of what happened they claim the cannon ball went through it's intended target, deflected off the hill behind the target and then took the trajectory that caused all the damage. The muzzle lift theory would seem to indicate it did not go through it's target but muzzle lift caused the ball to fly uninterrupted on it's unintended trajectory... A more likely scenario given what happened.
