Doctors: ‘Only a miracle’ can save life of former F1 champ Michael Schumacher

Terrible news from Sports Illustrated:

Former Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher has been in a medically induced coma for 10 weeks following a skiing accident, and doctors now believe it would take a miracle to save him.

Schumacher, a seven-time F1 world champion, suffered traumatic brain injuries after hitting a rock while skiing on Dec 29. The 45-year-old was placed in an artificially induced coma, which typically lasts only two to three weeks.

From the Daily Mail:

Official news about his condition is minimal: but sources close to the family say the prognosis for Schumacher could not be worse.
‘He is in terrible shape but until the family issue a statement we cannot write about it,’ said one senior German journalist. ‘The family have, we are told, been informed that only a miracle can bring him back now.’
Schumacher’s management team insists he is in the “wake up” phase of the coma.

With 91 career wins, Schumacher is the winningest F1 driver ever.
