TOP GEAR

In this trying time we all need a laugh break. If you get the BBC on your telly, then you have to tune in on Mondays at 8pm. For the last couple of years I watched and my wife wondered what I was laughing at. She came in and looked and said "Oh, just another car show!" But she watched for a few minutes and was hooked.
The next week she was the one who called down to watch those Brits trash our side of the pond.
I understand they are trying to bring this show to America with American hosts..... It will stink. Watch it on the BBC and enjoy. We could all use a little shot in the arm.

Re: TOP GEAR

George... thanks for the mention but doubt there are many here who don't know and enjoy the show.

Top Gear is a unique animal as car shows go because it's far beyond car obsession and straight into hilarious entertainment. You don't have to know or love cars to enjoy it. Smart, irreverent, outrageous, edgy.

You're right, If they did it here with another cast it would in all likelyhood fall flat. It's the wacky chemistry and points of view those guys have that make it work.

Re: TOP GEAR

Pat,
I guess I was only thinking of myself. I watched it years ago and drifted to TCM, SPEED and History. Someone reminded me again about 6 months ago and I thought I'd throw out a reminder to the memory challenged like myself.
Right now the car business is no fun at all, and sometimes I get mired in just keeping the doors open. This show reminds me of the reasons we got into this gig in the first place. For the FUN of it.
Right now the FUN is gone. But I am optomistic!

Re: TOP GEAR

I hear you and completely agree. We're all waiting to hit bottom so we can start digging out. Scary for sure. We may be getting close. Still tough times ahead so remembering our sense of purpose is spiritually helpful. Top Gear is the best kind of distraction. :-)

It's that old line, "When you're up to your ass in alligators it's hard to remember that your primary purpose in being there was to drain the swamp."
