2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
HOLY CRAP! MacDod squeezes out a 1 point 'come from behind' victory over MPOWA! Congratulations, Donald! Finishing third was Sydude, with JC a close fourth.
There were lots of good picks made this week, and Jimmy Craige picked them the best. So the honors for this week's points review belong to Jimmy, but MacDod gets the honors to do the Season Review for the First Annual Team Juicy F1 Fantasy Competition.
And as promised, the winner of this year's competition gets an awesome prize: one year's FREE subscription to the world-reknown website serving the Skip Barber Racing Series, 'TeamJuicyRacing.com'!
And of course, how could I forget a shout-out to my boy and absent mentor, JPM, winner of the Brazilian GP:

Re: 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
There was a pretty tight shot group at the top of this weeks F1 pics but the crowd went wild, WILD! when jcraige squeaked out his first win of the year slipping him past Jimal Temus for a convincing 4th place championship finish. jcraige used the 2005 McLaren strategy of JPM, KR, and MCL to much success. This being jcraige's first F1 pics season, we are expecting good things from him next year.
The second place honors go to MacDod and syareh each with 22 points. MacDod, exhaused after this 5 race end of season battle with mpowa, also went for a knock-out punch with a McLaren tilt using both KR and MCL. He supplemented this pair with the race's third place finisher and always a bride's maid, and never a bride, award recipient, RB. Macdod's 22 points earned him 344 total champsionship points, 1 point more than mpowa and good enoough for his first champsionship victory! Hat's off to this rabid Red Sox fan (Did I mention that the Red sox won the series against the Yankees?), Skip Barber race winner, and friend to all.
syareh's BMW (RS,JP), with a McLaren (MCL) hedge were good enough for a second place tie this week, and good enough for a 3rd place championship podium. syareh, who had a phenominal beginning of the season only had a few off weeks the whole year. If only Sy hadn't lost it all in Belgium, he could have been a contender for the series win, and our top banana.
Speaking of top bananas, hard charging mpowa, who lead the final 5 races, gets a big hat's off to what could have been. The crowd thought his BAR team choice was a stroke of brilliance until the engine of Button "done blown up" like so many other Hondas this year. He had to settle for a still respectible 16 points this week. 1 point less than he needed a hell of a good fight.
Third place this week goes to MJAmok. Way to go MJAMOK! 21 whole points! since MJAMOK averaged 14.5 points a race this year, this is BIG weekend. This big points win propelled MJAMOK to DFL for the championship. He was the only driver to score a zero in 3 races. This is kind of hard to do given the restrictions that you actually have to pick 2 drivers from the top 4 teams. Little Buddy status will be applied to you next year. Your big brother will be calling you before the first race, explaining how things work, etc. It won't hurt a bit.
This weeks 4-off award goes to fitilehpeach for losing 1 spot to CMAC in the final standings with a 4 point total for the week. I am not sure if it was Zolt or DC who cursed you, but any way you slice it, your 4 BAR points were all that were to be found. The good news is, you finished well ahead of MJAMOK. In fact, if we had another race, and only MJAMOK were allowed to pick, using his current average, you would still be ahead of him. Oh, and so would Pork Chop.
In the moon and the stars category, JuicyJules (our only female rep) had a better total score than the average of all the men. kind of figure our collective firepower would lose out in this battle.

Now THAT'S A REVIEW!! Nice job, dude! BTW, CMAC is birkmama's girl. And it's a good thing for her that she lost to him. For a while there we were worried she might beat him.

Crap. Sorry about that CMAC! THe good news is, if we had 2 more races to bet on, and MJAMOK was the only one betting and hit his average, he would STILL not have as many points as you.
Greetings ladies (that's plural Jim) and gentlemen (this is plural too Jim even though it doesn't have an "s" on the end)
Wasn't this year fun?
Ferrari again dominated the F1 series and Michael (that's Schumacher not you Auriemma) has now broken every major record save one (Poles) which he will undoubtably break before he retires (at God only knows what age). As for our sad lot we did quite well as a group in playing TJR Fantasy F1 for the year. In fact we nailed some of the early races particularly Spain, SanM, and Bahrain where we scored 312, 297, 295 points respectively as a group. This by virtue of the fact that we had the "highest" low picks by some of the seasons "Minardi-like" players ("backmarkers" is such a pejorative term). And speaking of the back of the grid let's take a look at some of the low life -opps sorry, low score "highlights".
Taking the 4-off Award for the 2004 season with 6 "Low Scores" is fitlepeach . However, (you know the "however" was coming Michael) the player with the most "no scores" (that is zero, zip, nada, nothing, none) and the winner of the (yes, you guessed it) "Girlie Man" award goes to MJAmok (who says names don't make the man). Interestingly everyone, save one, picked up a "low score" (or tied for it) during the season. But let's not let these low scores weigh too heavily (oh there I go with the weight thing again) on what were some outstanding high points of the season.
Many players scored the week's high, or shared it, during the season. In fact only three playes, most notably PorkChop (you sure you didn't mean to type in Pork Barrel - after all you are a lawyer) never had a "win" (come to think if it...oh, never mind). Three players tied for the season crown as "High Points" winners, with three race wins apiece. Congrats to jcraig, syaryeh, and mpowa. For a tie breaker the judges went to an impartial judge (from Boston) and picked jcraig for the season's podium with a high pick of 46 in Bahrain. [Editors note-the ACLU has sued and contested the results pointing out that mpowa actually "won" with a higher point total of 117 to 104. However the Supreme court ruled that this is America and the "popular" vote doesn't count. The court ruled in jcraig's favor as he won the races with the highest "electoral" votes {based on the weighted average of the total points scored in the race} NOTE to Sy: How's that for complicated rules!]. And congrats to juicyjules with her "High Points" win and who made all us boys look silly at Indy.
Before I sign off (I have a real job that i have to get back to) I'd like to share with you a quote posted earlier in the season for the Belgium GP, it reads..

Re: 2004 Belgian GP @ Spa-Francorchamps - Results and Standings
Mpowa, Since you and I both have had the foresight to save Ferrari for Monza, it remains to be seen whether you can see anything but red? This week will determine the championship for the year (if not the fate of the human race if Ferrari were to lose).
Truer words were never spoken as Belgium WAS in fact the deciding race of the season as the winning margin for the season was a mere "1" point for TJR F1 title. It was at SPA where this season's Fantasy F1 winner scored a single point. But before I announce the winner let me share with you the coincidence and irony surronding the weekend. SPA was the race that clinched Schmacher's title as well as our Fantasy F1 winner. Wait, it gets better. The single point was scored by a guy who has also stopped racing (Panis), just like our Fantasy F1 winner! And wait, wait get this - the same U.S. technology company (EMC) "sponsored" the racing of both the F1 driver team who scored that single point at Spa and our Fantasy F1 winner!
WOW is that cool or what?
(Hey I'm not getting paid for this, ya know!)
Okay, okay I'll stop typing. The TJR's 1st F1 Fantasy winner for the 2004 season is me.
And may I say I deserved it! Mr's jcraige, syaryeh, and mpowa all had the top spot at one point or another during the season. But each fell off, not only the perch, but off the podium altogether. And I, the only one with NO "low scores" (thanks Sy) held either the 1 or 2 postion all year long. Considering the competition I'm very proud of myself.
And speaking of proud, congrats to the ladies who made season all the more attractive (as always). And to our foreign born players (some of whom are better than others) but especially mpowa who played from far away, was constantly under fire, and really gave us a show for the last few races.
Well on to next year. I encourage anyone who didn't play to do so next year, I mean you can't do much worse than "you know who" now can you?

Geez
If I may, I'd like to represent the Iranian/African contingent:
Sydude - Already congratulated you, you #$%@.
JuicyJules - Too busy keeping Sydude happy
MPowa - He's in africa, running the show by himself like a chicken with it's head cut off, as his bros have 'f'ed off'
Rays Royce - He was babysitting his dad. But now that I'm doing it, he should have NO EXCUSES!
Re: 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
I forgot to add:
Fitilepeach - I think he sent you a congrats with his last picks, which I think were sometime in the middle of the season. Note that even though he missed like 5 weeks of picks he still didn't finish last. Also, I think he's in Iran right now, where the Team Juicy Racing website has not only been banned, but also where they have issued a fatwa for anyone who views or posts. Let's cut him some slack!
Re: 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
Jesu...oh sorry. Goosh Sy I wasn't even referring to you extended family when i wrote the note. I think you can take that fatwa off your shoulder. Lighten up dude. Get out of the sun.
I'm looking for acknowledgement from my Blues playing Karting buddy, the only German I know that doesn't know squat about F1, and Mr. I RAN AMOK in Turn 1 all year.
Put it in writing you bums!
It won't kill you to be nice!
Well then again, maybe it would kill the likes of you guys?
Re: 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
Come on, MacDod, you know better than that! We ALL know where he is!...
He's sitting in a little cell about 924 feet down in special subterranean torture facility on Diego Garcia, just waiting released to a CNN news crew on November 1st, brought out by the 12 Delta force guys who've spent the past year sitting down there with him, lest they tell anyone what happened. Of course, they will say that captured him on October 30th. GO DUBYA!
Re: 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
Hey I finally got my internet working, it has been down quite a bit(Zimbabwe dont need to say anymore)
Firstly congratualations for stealing my victory it took about two weeks for me to get over it (lol) but if I had won writing the follow up would have been a problem as I have hardly had the time to do anything. Well I am sure next year will be just as exciting, . My first kart race is this sunday . Big question "Will I see the checkered flag ?"
Re: 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix & 2004 Season Final Results & Standings
Sorry, MacDod. Bad sport that I am, the only thing that I cared about was whether I managed to block the Amok-ster from passing me on the last lap. I was so focused on making sure that I finished second to last rather than last, I never even glanced up at the top of the list (which would have required a LOT of scrolling). Heartiest congratulations to you. I will buy you an honest beer, say a Rolling Rock?
