California Dreaming...Laguna 2-DayAdv Sept 27, 28
I must really want to be there if I'm ready to catch a 2:40am limo for a 6:30am departure from JFK.
No time left for reading, watching videos, sim lapping or just plain being gripped.
Last Friday, I did make time for the AARP driver's course at the local senior center. I approached it with an open mind, eager to pick up any tips they were ready to offer, and I was surprised how much overlap there is. Near the top in both programs for instance is "look up," "look in your mirrors" and "watch the signs, lights and flags."
AARP's ideas about safe following distances won't work well on the track, but there wasn't a lot of conflict in passing and braking or accelerating where traction is compromised. I think it was off the lesson plan, but the instructor talked a lot about how to draft trucks, concluding that it was for the young and stupid.
ABS has made the threshold braking section moot for the AARP. Stomp 'n' Steer. There was no talk of trail braking or tto rotation.
It's time to go rRacing.
