way to go John Pew :)

http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/grandam/37137/

Congrats John .. and remember... I'm easy to find if something happens and you need a spare driver on short notice

For those that don't know, John and I have a somewhat storied past on track. Back in 02, in my very first Skippy race weekend, while I was still a Skippy wrench in the Ct shop, John and I ran in the same race group.. heck. I ran in almost everyone's group my first weekend seeing as I did a "double". Well, after chasing John for most of one of our races, after a restart I had FINALLY outbraked John for P1 coming into T1 ( daytona's infield course ) , John being the competitor he is, didn't wanna give up... promptly outbraking himself and I , lockin up a wheel and bumping the both of us off track. As we dirttracked our way back to the pavement we got to watch half the field stream by us... LOL..

I had such a good time racin with John, after being around him and our other fellow competitors as a wrench for so long, I really didn't mind THAT much... yeeahh right... LOL.. probally helped a lil bit that I still won 1 of my 4 races that weekend, again....on my first weekend..

So John.. AGAIN congrats buddy.. I'm sure you're gonna have a great time and don't forget bout my driving offer
Have fun catchin up to AND matching Paterson

Roger...

Yes, exciting news best of luck

I was joking with John that just adding a little text to the basic MSR #6 car would give you a full-blown SB livery.

Awesome news John. Can't imagine you'll have any fun in those funny looking closed wheel cars with so many good friends and great drivers.

If you really want to compete with Mark you're going to have to go out and buy a Blackberry (If you don't already have one) and get your thumbs in shape as well.

Re: way to go John Jew :)

Thanks Roger. I remember that Daytona race with you in ’02. That was a blast. I am very excited about this opportunity. I leave today for a two day test get used to the car. I did test my old Mazda(in the rain) last week and found that taking all this time off hasn’t hurt much.

Re: way to go John Pew :)

John Pew and his teammate Ian James finished P7 in John's first race today at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca with Michael Shank Racing, and his first race since falling out of the sport last year with injury.

John could not have dreamed of a better first professional race since his rehabilitation that only recently ended. A few days of karting, a test in a Star Mazda car, two days of testing the DP, then a great debut race! To make it even more dreamy, his friends and teammates Mark Patterson and Ozwaldo Negri finished P3.

Congrats to John and MSR!

Re: way to go John Pew :)

Thanks a lot to all of you..Ian James is a great co-driver. It would not of happend without him or the well oiled machine of Michael Shank Racing. If we did not have that full course yellow at the end of the race, P1 and P2 would have run out of gas and Mark and Ozz would have won, but that's racing. It was great to see so many Skippy faces at Laguna. See you at the 6 hours at the Glen!!
