Too cool for words.
This Saturday I have the opportunity to bring a fellow churchmember to the VSCCA Fall Finale vintage races at Lime Rock. Just so happens he was Briggs Cunningham's parts manager. He did a little wrenching on the side and one of his customers just happened to be in charge of GrummanAircraft Engineering Corporation's wind tunnel. He introduced the two. Results below.

That's Le Mans, 1950. And yes, that's Pete's dad Cameron Argetsinger, piloting HIS dad.
BTW. That pace lap was the only practice they had.

That car had to be an absolute jaw dropper in its day and now all we see is how primitive it is. Like looking at the special effects in "King Kong". State of the art then but the first baby step now. Fun to see it with its contemporary behind it.
