Re: 1/4 Billion Pounds Bangin' Fenders at Goodwood

Very good stuff Doug... Thanks!

One of the best races I've ever seen was an SCCA regional race lead battle between 4 Mini's. Brought my high school junior prom date to LRP and we worked as volunteers for Jane Driscoll in the old timing and scoring building recording the cars on long narrow strips of paper as they passed start/finish. Late 1960's, way before electronic timing and scoring. 4 Mini's leading the race nose to tail the whole time inches apart until one of them peeled off into the pits pointing frantically at his right front. His mechanic jumped over the wall and put a spanner on the lug nuts and made about 4 full turns on each of the lugs before sending him back out. He must have been about half a lap from losing the wheel. Probably 42 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
