New RACER Magazine Ad - PREVIEW

Hey Guys!

I want to start sharing some of the graphics I'm creating in-house for SBRS! Believe it or not, I spend a lot of time reading your posts and it really helps get my creative juices flowing. If you have any ideas on future graphics, let me know. I always have an open ear especially for passionate racers like yourself.

The ad below is for Racer Magazine. Let me know what you think!

-Deb

Re: New RACER Magazine Ad - PREVIEW

Great concept. I understand the B&W versus color as a tool to indicate that the picture was in the past but I'm not a fan of it. The picture loses a bit of its punch. Unfortunately I don't have a better suggestion. You could try something like

19XX AJ Allmendinger Skip Barber School Race winner
2012 AJ Allmendinger 24 Hours of Rolex Winner

which could lead to a series of similar ads with other drivers

Nice ad in any case. Hope this was helpful.

Re: New RACER Magazine Ad - PREVIEW

With all due respect to Tim's opinion, I love the use of B&W because you only associate B&W with the past. The point of the add is to invoke the storied history of elite pro racers who started with Skip Barber. Though AJ isn't that old, by changing the background to B&W it compels your eye to the photo and tells you it is from the past in a way the full color shot would not. It also invokes the joy of winning whether it be a Skip Barber regional or The Rolex 24 at Daytona. There is a simple elegance to this that works on many levels. A series of adds featuring elite pro drivers framed like this would be a compelling campaign in my humble opinion.

I like it! If I could just play the role of grammar police for a minute, "hard work" doesn't need a hyphen, and there should be a space between "alumni," and "we've".
