Videos If Skippy were in France

This is a great video, especially the last couple of minutes. The guy's face says it all.

it would be fun to partner with other open wheel racing clubs from around the world and invite them to come race with us and then us go race with them.

id love to try some f1 tracks out anywhere in the world

That is a great idea. Even if we could put one event together on both sides of the pond.

Nothing imminent, but it's definitely gone on the list for the next time I happen to be in the neighborhood... would be great to do with a bunch of Skippy friends.

Re: If Skippy were in France

Without throwing too much cold water on this we've had a couple of reports about this opportunity to drive recently vintaged F-1 cars. In fact I think Skippy partnered with these guys or a very similar outfit to sell some seats for the same program. The first part of driving the skippy type formula cars is to give you a wee bit of car control instruction and for them to see that you will follow instructions and won't crash the cars. There is very little opportunity to really exercise the F1 cars as they put you on a very short leash and yank it back if you make them nervous.

Having said that I'm sure it's fun to drive those cars in any capacity... Just don't expect as much freedom to explore as we get in Skippy cars and other rental race cars.

I remember getting let out of my 100 hour/wk residency schedule a couple of times a year for conferences and instruction courses (Nawlins, Sarasota, Lauderdale). We would let out a war cry of "Rental!!!!" and proceed to beat the s--t out of those poor cars. Good thing I had no Skippy training at the time, or some of them would not have made it back to the airport lot. Those were good times.

Then I will have to talk to the handlers beforehand to make sure I get my money's worth. No play, no pay.

It does look like he only got 1 7/8s... But, it also looks like the French gentlemen are okay fishing for your "anti-submarine" belt

Re: If Skippy were in France

I've got a June 3 date reserved at Circuit du Var for both F3 and F1 laps -- will post my thoughts on the experience after my trip. This weekend (May 6-8), I'll be at the Skippy 3-day formula class at Laguna. A bit of basics and warm-up before the real deal. :-)
