Re: Tremblant Roll Call
I will be there beginning with Wednesday's lapping session all the way through the weekend. What is the weather like up there? From weather.com it looks like the possibility of showers every day until perhaps Saturday !? Ugh. I had enough bad stuff last year. I want a dry track !!!!!

So far, the long range forcast for the Tremblant area looks like mid to high 60's, dry, with a sun cloud mix from the 30th of July until the 4th of August. However, the famous line at Tremblant is "If you want the weather to change, just wait 5 minutes" Great time to improve your wet line driving

Didn't it turn from sunny to rain while we waited for skippy to get 2 cars prepared for the race? I was in my car when the weather turned. Jeez, that was a lot of fun. Have fun this year guys!

As a race driver, is this something that is or should be critical to you???
Actually, I have to say I do love good food after a hard day running at the track. Something about the heavy carb burn followed by a yummy meal... It is a great combo.
BTW, I am in.
On standby lapping for Wed and Thurs..

Re: Tremblant Roll Call
Unfortunately Mont-Tremblant is one of the few places where we need to lock our cars in the parking lot and keep an eye out for each other security wise. In previous years, what appeared to be an organized theft ring stole two Skip Barber duallies one year from their hotel and broke into the parts trailer and stole all of Mike Marino's video gear, a new air compressor and some other tools the next year. In those years there were also a few thefts from unlocked customer cars in the paddock during the day. Last year SB finally wised up and hired a security guard to spend the night watching their stuff at the track and I don't recall any parking lot customer car thefts either but we'd put the word out so there was heightened awareness.
Not a huge deal if we pay attention and lock cars when we're racing.

Re: Tremblant Roll Call
Route tip - you will most likely be taking Autoroute 15 Nord (North) out of Montreal. This road mirrors Rte 117 most of the way and you will see many exit signs for Rte 117, ignore them! Stay on 15 all the way to the end (Ste Agathe I believe), it becomes Rte 117 towards Ste Jovite and Tremblant.
Some French road signs you might see (I can't vouch for these, don't speak French)
One that seems to be permanently part of the roads around Montreal is - Travaux - Road work
à droite - to the right
à gauche - to the left
Accoutement non Stabilize - Soft shoulder
Allumez vos Phares - Turn on headlights
Arret Interdit - No stopping
Attention - Caution
Au Pas - Slow
Autres Directions - Through traffic
Bifurcation - Junction
Cédez le passage - Give way
Chantier - Road Construction
Chute de Pierres - Falling rocks
Circuit Touristique - Scenic route
Circulation Interdite - No thoroughfare
Dépannage - repair
Descente dangereuse - Steep hill
Douane - Customs
Entrée Interdite - No Entrance
Fin d'Interdiction - End of restriction
Fin de Limitation de Vitesse - End of speed restriction
Halte - Stop
Impasse - Dead-end road (Cul-de-sac)
Interdiction de Doubler - No passing
Interdiction de Stationner - No parking
Itineraire Bis - Alternative Route
Limitation de Vitesse - Speed-restriction
Nids de Poules - Potholes
Passage à Niveau - level crossing
Passage Interdit - Entry forbidden, no thoroughfare
Passage protege - Right-of-way at intersection ahead
Péage - Toll
Pente Dangereuse - Steep Incline
Piste Reservée aux Transports Publics - Lane reserved for public transport
Poids Lourds - Truck (lorry) route
Priorité à droit - Give way to traffic on the right
Priorité à gauche - Give way to traffic on the left
Priorité aux piétons - give way to pedestrians
Ralentissez - reduce speed
Rappel - Restriction continues
Reservée aux Pietons - Pedestrians have the right of way
Route Barrée - Road closed
Route Étroite - narrow road
Route Glissante - Slippery road
Sans Interdit - Wrong direction
Sens unique - One way
Serrez à droite / à gouche - Keep right / left
Sortie - Exit
Sortie de Camions - Truck Crossing
Stationnement interdit - no parking
Tenez vos Distances - Keep your distance
Toutes Directions - All directions
Travaux - Road work
Verglas - Slippery road
Virages - Curves ahead
Voie Unique - Single-lane traffic
Vous n'avez pas la priorité - Give way, traffic on roundabout has priority
Zone Rouge - Tow away zone

So far, from my view out the sixth floor window toward the lake (which has twice vanished in the rain and fog), the short-term forecast is for torrential rain. Oh, no! The lake vanished in the rain and fog for a third time, and I've been here only forty-five minutes!

Re: Tremblant Roll Call
Seriously, is someone filming a Hollywood rain scene in Tremblant this afternoon? For the past hour it has been absolutely pouring. I used to live in South Florida, and this rivals anything I saw there (and I have seen some real rainstorms). Surely there cannot be any rain left in the air for tomorrow!?!?

Here is a link to a Canadian weather site with a radar image for this region: http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar..._e.html?id=XFT So far Thursday and Saturday look decent. Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday are mixed with scattered showers predicted and 40-50% chance of precipitation.

Re: Tremblant Roll Call
Racing in the rain is a privilege that we get far to little, we should all be celebrating the opportunity. I for one am looking forward to the challenge. If memory serves last year it was a hard to get full throttle on the run from 8 to 10 because of the rivers across the track. Car control in a straight line! Sounds like fun to me.

The one to get the most sideways and still keep traveling in the right direction buys the house a round of Jager!! (You too, Kevin-- are you legal? If not, I won't tell... we need you to join in the hallowed racing tradition.) I'm with you. Sure would like some dry time to learn the track, but after that, I NEED more wet track practice, especially in race conditions. So bring it on!
However, after driving it would be nice to have some warm sunny time to go swimming in the lake! Cleanest, clearest, most refreshing water I have ever swum in.

I am in for sideways grand prix but I'll just do a couple shots of Red Bull, ok?
Deceptively slippery section? The long, easy left hand Turn 6...looks like an easy pass on the outside then HEY! how did I get backward and in the grass???
Here is a Tremblant rain battle video by Sydude - fore and aft cameras, battles with Revere, Vinnay, VERY wet track, good for seeing the wet line, nice video Sydude.
