Can-Am Lola @ Road America

Enjoy our buddy Jim Pace behind the wheel of a Lola T70 Spyder winning the Lola Can-Am race. Would have won the main Can-Am heat in my opinion had the oil pump not broke. In the McLaren he turned a 2:06. 2 seconds clear of anyone else in the field.

Horsepower is a wonderful thing...but exit speed is still the king. Really nice job, Jim. John S. himself would be proud.

Re: Can-Am Lola @ Road America

Looking at and listening to the T70, one of my all-time favorite cars, made me think. Back then you understood the cars more and seemed somehow closer to therm. It was all about horsepower and large appendages. Today, if I was locked in a room with a current F1 car and we both passed a test, they'd accuse me of plagarism.

Re: Can-Am Lola @ Road America

In my youth as a competitive 1/24th scale slot car racer (In the day there were commercial 8 lane tracks where we raced for trophies...) my absolute favorite car body, bar none, was the Lola T70, and that was in the Lola's prime of life. Nothing but fond memories of the car on track and in slot car form. To see a current race ready example so nicely preserved and properly piloted by Jim Pace makes me smile inside and out.

Just wait until I am done with the LeMans video from the vintage race. Starts 76th b/c of qualifying miss, ends up 4th by way of a terrifying night run, in the rain on slicks! Its pretty wild stuff. ZERO visibility, no traction control, no ABS and did I mention SLICKS?! Its epic. Be done soon

Pat,
Agree the Lola T70 Spyder is one of the all time classic beauties on wheels. Every viewing angle is awesome. Best is with several in the mirror getting smaller! They are a joy to drive and I treasure each lap in them.

Here is the LeMans highlight reel. Little different, single laps will be done soon.
