Thanks to the handy overlay of qualifying laps, it looks like Danica and Jeff Gordon may have had less breeze going down the back straight. They visibly pulled a car length advantage and were more or less identical the rest of the lap vs everyone else.

The comparison between Danica and Tony Stewart was particularly obvious, part way down the straight her car surged ahead. I'll go with weather over weight.
