Great vid there cdh, thanks for posting. Amazingly creative thinking on Gurney's part, his mind was way ahead of the car. Would current rules allow a move like that or does the leader have to see a white flag no matter how far ahead he is?
Love that neuroscientifically-correct Lexus commercial! Don't recall ever seeing it before. "Who would have thought that driving a Lexus could be so exhilarating?" Gotta be one of the weakest tag-lines ever.

Yep, that's the link, decent feed and jolly good graveyard-shift Brit commentary, enjoying it. We were getting Facebook updates from Swelk in spotter / bird's eye view, but their engine just blew. Many Tweets and photos from competitors, Mike Shank, Pew, Ozz, AJ Dinger, Jordan Taylor, John Edwards, etc etc etc. That and live streaming on full screen, live T&S from Grand-Am and I'm in Heaven Feel completely tuned into the event....amazing. As a matter of fact I just saw the good Dr Ron Yarab flyin' by in his Magnus Racing GT3, go Ron! Doing good for the Children's Tumor Foundation, bravo.
Watching live online / Speed. Anyone else around? O345 now, good racing, feel so bad for everyone at Wayne Taylor Racing, what a blow.

Bravo and well done!

When asked what I wanted for my birthday I outwardly said all I wanted was 24 undisturbed hours to watch this favorite event....I didn't dare speak of what I really wanted, but sometimes you get what you only hope for. Can't tell you how happy I am for John, Ozz and the entire Michael Shank Racing organization. This was so deserved, I know how hard they've all been working, and Mike has been assembling an Indy team while prepping for the 24! Amazing! Also like how this is a very popular win, the Shank team has something that is definitely lacking in some other garages, they have fun, there is always an upbeat mood. You can hear the bond in the voices of the Speed announcers, they see it and appreciate it also. As Sid was so fond of saying, they get it. Also a popular win because they are (at least for a little while longer) the David amongst the Goliaths, so we offer many to MSR, the drivers and crews of both the P1 60 and the P3 6 cars. What a great birthday present! Congrats to all of them.
A little AJ....so glad they told him to SLOW DOWN a bit near the end, was so nerve wracking!
AWESOME!!!!!!!! is all I can say... Couldn't have happened to a nicer goup of guys.. GREAT drives by all four, great job by the crew, and certainly damn exciting by AJ at the end. Super impressive battling THAT hard more than 21 hours into a 24 hour race and still keeping it together and bringin her home.. CONGRATS !!!!
Don't forget John Potter, whom some of you might know. Great victory in the GT category. As the guys on Speed said, this was the day for big victories by little teams, and John is one of the nicest guys I have met in Skippy racing (he actually was in my first race at Laguna in December 2005).

Yes indeed, congrats to John Potter, we raced together in 07. What I recall is he was driving the car that drove thru a small lake on No-Name and threw up the largest spray I'd ever seen - later immortalized in the "Singin' the Blues, flags that is" vid.
Good interview with MSR, interesting comments by Mike and John, well done

Let's not forget to congratulate Spencer and the rest of the 67 TRG Porsche team for their 2nd place finish. They worked their way through the entire field to come up less than 10 seconds short of the GT win. A few more minutes, and they would have been running right along with the 44 Magnus car (which, since no one else has mentioned it, was co-piloted by Andy, Spencer's "best buddy" and former TRG teammate).

Andy Lally may now disagree with that assessment WTN priceless
Andy leaving TRG and then spanking them with an upstart team on the first try is absolutely insane.
Bravo to John Potter for not only showing his talent as a driver but as a talent coordinator as well.
Knowing how fiercely competitive Spencer is and how strong the TRG cars are makes this victory even sweeter.
Congrats guys... Well done..

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes, emails and text messages. I think this high will last a long time. The whole race weekend was truly magical. The team and the crew were flawless. Everything went perfectly. We only stopped in the pits for fuel and/or tires. No car issues or damage . Luck plays a part as well. A flat tire would have ruined our day. I have been there before. The racing gods were with us .
12 years ago I did a Three Day School as a father/son weekend and to teach my 16 year old son how to handle a car. I met a young Peter Ludwig in the same school. I had no intention of going on and racing when I signed up. However, I discovered a passion and a challenge. Is was a big challenge since I really sucked the first couple years. Amazing how life works out sometimes..Thank you Skip Barber and the friends for life I have met through Skip Barber. I have learned a lot about life from all of you.

Ozz was the lead test driver for the Barber Dodge Pro Series..He is an old picture of Ozz and Louis D'Agostino helping me out. AJ happened to be racing in the Barber Pro Series at that time.

A well deserved and heart warming result indeed!
John, your amazing dedication and effort is a testament to all those who chose to pursue this discipline.
If one has the desire and the resources this challenge can be mastered!
It makes me proud to have been associated with so many successful racers in their early exploits. Thanks to Skip Barber!
