Re: Who's Your Daddy?

5:05p Game Time!

Mike & Pedro. The M & M boys on the mound.

Pedro strikes out Jeter on three pitches...

Walks Rodriquez on five pitches...

Exquisite tedium already.

Nobody at Fenway is sitting.

Sheffield struck out on 5 pitches.

Matsui skies one to right that misses being a home run by 5 feet.

Mussina on the ropes bases loaded 2 outs Boston up 1-0 in the 1st.

He walks in Veritek with run number 2 on some very close pitches.

Mussina gets out of it leaving a 2 run cushion for Pedro.

Bernie Williams leads off the 2nd inning with a home run. Bang! 2-1 Boston.

The pressure is already at the level of a bottom of the ninth, seventh World Series game, and its only the 2nd inning!

Glad to have the best rivalry in baseball for at least one more day.

Ya gotta love it!

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

I do love it.

Yanks 4-2 @ 7:21 PM. Yanks on 1st & 3rd, two outs.

When it's over, it may not be a sweep, but why not call it a 'swoop'?

To all you Yankee fans, I hope they make the World Series only to be embarassed by the Cardinals and yet again disappoint you Yankee fans. GO CARDINALS!!!

Which answers the the question: How do you pick out the loyal Milwaukee Brewer fans at a Brewers game? They're the ones wearing the Cardinal uniform caps and jerseys!

I'd suggest that SwingOnIt2, SwungOnIt2 to the Cardinals after they beat the Brewers in their last trip to the World Series 22 years ago, except that he was negative 2 years old at the time. Yipes! No wonder he roots for the Cards...

Well we're coming back to Yankee Stadium to finish things with Boston. As much as I'm a partisan Yankee fan, this is such a great rivalry, it will be a privilege to see them finish it in New York. What great competition. The ump was calling a tight strike zone (on both sides) there were a lot of close pitches that could have gone either way. Now the weather may come into play as rain is in the forecast. May give both sides some recovery time.

I still like our (The Yankees) chances.

By the way SwingOnIt2, the Astros just beat the Cards for the 3rd game in a row so things are tightening up at your end as well... It would be fun to see Roger Clemens go up against the Yankees... Ah the possiblities... :-)

I thought about this today.

Here's a little quote from my favorite quotable:

"Sure I am this day we are masters of our fate, that the task which has been set before us is not above our strength; that its pangs and toils are not beyond our endurance. As long as we have faith in our own cause and an unconquerable will to win, victory will not be denied us."

I can't believe how badly they've choked. UGH. The Yankees should be shot, one by one in a row.

Jeteri
Matsui
Sheffield
A-Rod
you get the idea....

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

We tip our caps to the Boston Red Sox team and players who overcame the seemingly insurmountable 3-0 deficit and devastating 19-8 third game loss in Boston to take four straight from us and proceed to the World Series. You've got to respect and admire their spirit and talent for the game. They weren't just lucky. They fought hard for every game they won, and were worthy opponents all season long. They overcome everything we threw at them, played better than we did when it counted and deserved to win. Our team was very good and theirs was even better.

This hurts like hell because we love, expect and know what it takes to win. More than any other franchise, we have won! And we've also enjoyed too much success to begrudge Boston its moment in the sun. We'd like to see them win the World Series if only to prove that we've been beaten by the best. In fact the 1918 curse won't really be broken until they do actually win a World Series. So it's yet to be determined whether the curse will be broken or if the Sox will play Houston or St Louis. If Houston wins, it would be fun to see Roger Clemens turn up as something of a roadblock with one final score to settle before he retires again! :-)

Ya gotta love it!

Hey Donald, I can't wait to get to the restaurant, grab the wine list, and scroll down to the bottom of the page and point to the wine on the very bottom.

"Yes, We will have 6 bottles of the Chateau de Poo Poo, 1964. Why don't you toss is a pitcher of Sam Adams and some beer nuts when you get a chance as well."

Oh, and now MacDonald crawls out of the spider hole he has been sharing with Osama. You guys choose the trough, let’s discuss the date, what the hell my daughter does need to go to college. Oh, and one more thing, that curse, lets not forget that didn’t have anything to do with the Yankee’s, that dense fog of misery still hangs over Boston like Churchhill’s cheap cigar smoke.

Spider hole my ass. The problem with you New Yorker's is you all talk too much!

Best headline in the U.S. this morning,

"Hell Freezes Over"
I love it.

And by the way, I don't want to here ANYTHING from you losers about whether the Red Sox will win the World Series or not.

Like Don Imus says, "Shut up. Please just shut up."

I feel better now.

Congrats to the Red Sox - they wanted it more, plain and simple.

I hope George has the tendonitis in his writing hand fixed up - we'll be seeing some roster changes in the Bronx during the off-season...

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Phobos sez: "Oh, and now MacDonald crawls out of the spider hole he has been sharing with Osama."

David,
After hanging Jim out to dry on this thread as the only walking / talking defender of the Sox, it does seems rather hollow of Donald to show up now, after the fact, for the victory dance and dinner.

I think Big Mac owes Jim the first bottle of fine wine for bravely serving as the highly outnumbered bull’s-eye of our target practice when Boston was down, while maintaining his vision and giving as good as he got, with grace and a sense of humor, (...b-i-t-c-h!) when they came back.

Anything that converts the dissonance of that "nails on a blackboard" beaten down Red Sox fan whine to the warm happy laughter of a full bodied fine vintage Yankee wine is "a good thing” right? (To quote our current favorite celebrity inmate)

Note to Jim: You don't have to drink the whole bottle at one sitting and it might be best to sip lightly from a wine glass instead of gulping from a tumbler. Remember to take a breath once in a while and let the fluid pause long enough on your taste buds to leave an impression. Swishing it quickly from side to side and making gargling noises are considered bad form.

Note to Donald: (A moment of silence)

What exquisite arrogance to tell us we talk too much as justification for leaving your last Red Sox defender standing in the pit alone to fend for himself. That's like the Skipper doing a crossword puzzle on the bridge while his little buddy Gilligan is alone bailing out the boat down below with a sauce pan in a typhoon! It just isn't done! (I'm not being serious here Donald, just needling you to acknowledge and reward Jim for his good work)

"Hell Freezes Over" Outstanding!

Congrats on Don Imus becoming your new official spokesman :-)

You beat us in the semi-finals, Enjoy the quietude!

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Yeah, I never got that sipping thing down. Water, wine, beer, Scotch, it all goes down at the same speed. I think I'll just mix the Chateu de Poo Poo, 1964 with some seltzer. That will help!

Like the BoSox, Doanld and I are a team. when one is down the other subs. Besides, I actually enjoyed being cannon fodder for awhile there. Builds character.

I was wondering what you guys were thinking after game 3. Probably felt like a pack of hunters just after they dragged their boat onto the ice, pulled out there clubs, and spotted the baby seal...

But here we are. Alive and kicking. Sending you my seal suit in the mail. you might want to clean it.

One quesiton though.

Who's your caddy?

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Learning when to speak and when not to speak is something that comes with age. It's called discretion. (That is up until the time you can only drool on yourself, which is called senility).

As for being smart enough not to be subjected to Phobo's incessant and deranged progontications about some future event of which he has no real interest in other than the fact that it gives him a forum to be verbally abusive to others - you're right!

With that said, I really feel bad for the guy and the way he pours his heart out on the internet for all to see - seeking to connect with other poor bastards like himself who were adopted.

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

What was really dumb about A-Rods move was that he wasn't smart enough to make it look unintentional. It did look like he was trying to fend off a purse snatcher. Jeter is crafty enough to have pulled it off, kept it to himself, and no one would have ever guessed....

Ditto. The one thing about the Yankees is that they are a classy team. They suck and we beat them about the head a shoulders which I enjoy mentioning to anyone I meet, but they are a classy bunch of guys.

All except A-rod. We have Pedro who is an equal scumbag. I would trade him for a circus chimp.

Well now Jim, I think that you really have gone too far. To say that Rodriguez is an equal sc@mb@g (I got yelled at once for using unfamily-friendly language) to Pedro is really inappropriate. No one is Pedro's equal in that department.
Sy, I insist that you remove Jim's posting at once.
Don't blame Jim, though. This winning thing is brand new to him. He just doesn't know how to handle it yet....

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Bill, Have I mentioned to you that we won the series? I don't know if I told you that or not, but we won the series. I know this because I saw us win the series. We won the series by winning more games than you guys during the series, which we won. In addition to winning more games than you during the series which caused us to win the series, we also get to play in the next series. We get to play in the next series, commonly called The World Series, by beating you in the first series.

I am in my happy place now. I am in my happy place because, well you know, we won the series.

P.S. I just hit 100 entries!

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Jim,

If you're a Yankee fan what do you do tomorrow nite? I'm mean this must have huge economic ramifications for all those freeloading Yankee fans in NYC and around the world.

I mean, they ain't gonna now root for the Red Sox - are they?

I noticed you used win, once or twice in your last e-mail. You might consider going in the other direction describing "to lose" as;
surrender
degradation (a little strong? Nah!)
humble
give in
give out
give up

Or you could just try these;
conqueror
defeat
suppress (I like this one)
victorious
invincible
outwit
overwhelm
trump (my favorite! It has a kind of New York feeling to it, don't ya think?)

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

We could also use words like whalopped, or throttled. Yes THROTTLED!!!!

I like that word. Throttled.

The Red Sox throttled the Yankess.

The Pinstripes were THROTTLED! by the BoSox.

It could go on and on.

Throttled. excellent word.

I don't know who they will root for, but I know they were throttled, yes throttled, by the Yankees.

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Throttled?

I like it - it has kinda of a racing theme to it, huh?

Come to think of it when I think of a throttle the word CHOKE comes to mind.

I like throttled, Jim, yes I do.

Re: Who's Your Daddy?

Oh boy... The Mets victory. That's hitting below the belt. I don't know what's worse, Billy Buckner's error (he should be tarred and feathered) or the Red Sox beating the Yankees after they were ahead 3 games to zip.

That's 3 to ZERO, as in no wins. Well, I don't know what is worse, but I do know it feels real good to have beaten the Yankees in that series. That series we just won, the one where we were down 3 games to 0 and pulled it out. That series.

The one we just won.
