2005 Star Mazda Series Champion

Last Sunday, the SPEED channel showed the final race of the 2005 Star Mazda Series from Laguna Seca. The overall series champion this year is Raphael Matos. I assume that he is the star of the short video entitled "When Nature Calls ..." that can be found on the Videos page.

He's the guy, Raffa was stellar this season, he is going far in racing, we can say we knew him when....

Kudos also to John Pew (JP56) winning the Masters Championship and finishing 15th overall, a tremendous accomplishment, there are some 40 drivers in that series.

There are some highlights I edited up from Speed TV of the Laguna Finale on JP's website gallery page.

Congrats to Raffa and John, excellent driving guys!

Doug,

As usual, nice job composing the pictures and the video. You got all the right pieces in there.

We saw a lot of great driving by John this year. A big tip of the cap to him for being so strong and consistent in a highly competitive series filled with well-coached young hungry bucks. Bravo John.. well done!
