European GP F1 Picks are due HERE this Saturday (May 28) 7 AM
It's time for the European GP, hosted at the Nurburgring GP circuit. You must have your picks in by this Saturday, May 28th, 7am. Please check your pick totals by clicking here, which will also give you the full spreadsheet. Make sure you're not over the limit on any of your choices. THERE ARE MULTIPLE TABS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SHEETS - Click on them to see your pick totals, etc...
As always, don't edit or post your picks after the deadline. If you want to change previously made picks, but the system doesn't let you edit your post, just go ahead and reply again with new picks. The new ones will override the old.
Good luck!

Re: European GP F1 Picks are due HERE this Saturday (May 28) 7 AM
I'll take the plunge and put in my picks waaaay early, just to lead the way and show you guys how it's done. Of course, I can always change my picks anytime up to the deadline - so maybe these are just some dis-information?
Here are my killer picks, which I plan to re-take the lead with. You are all bantha-fodder now....
JB

JV
BAR
May the force be with me.

Re: European GP F1 Picks are due HERE this Saturday (May 28) 7 AM
I'll follow Sys lead and put my early picks up.
Michael "I'll pass ya after the checker" Schumacher
The "We're just happy to be here" picks:
Karthikeyan
Friesacher
Team pick:
Minardi... no... Jordan!... nah Ferrari!
Sy, we've reverted to the golf style scoring system, correct? I'm in position to take a huge lead this weekend!

Re: European GP F1 Picks are due HERE this Saturday (May 28) 7 AM
I was actually thinking of allowing people to 'buy' some points, for the benefit of the mechanic's fund. Whatcha think? How about 5 bucks a point? Fifty bucks gets me into the lead!
edit made WAY after the original reply:
What the hell was I thinking? I need fifty points - that's not $50, that's $250! SyMath strikes again.

How about people buying points can only use ride-buyers as their picks?

Petey, you can't picky both Kimi and Juan. They're both Tier A drivers. Pick one tier A, and two tier B's.

Sy,
My first picks were a joke. Which either no one took seriously or didn't even look at. I'm trying to flush out Double D, K-Man, and Mpower. But I guess it didn't work (a bit too obvious I think).
I trust you didn't waste time putting them your spreadsheet?

Doh, ok, Final picks:
Juan Pablita
Nick Heidfeld
Sato
McLaren
Sy: I've never liked him. Even when I saw my first F1 race and didn't really know what I was seeing, I just developed a disliking for JPM. He's my least favorite driver, always has been.

Re: European GP F1 Picks are due HERE this Saturday (May 28) 7 AM
KR would have been the smart conservative pick but JPM is very highly motivated to re-establish himself after his impressive run from the back at Monaco. JPM is also a tricky pick because he's more likely to take himself out with a high risk pass or bone head penalty. I gave JPM the nod in honor of his quite impressive Monaco performance.
RS did the same thing Montoya did at Monaco going from DFL to finishing right behind JPM. RS can be a bone head too, so I'm gambling that these two can run two clean races in a row.
Nothing to do now but enjoy the show.
BTW... Nice Memorial Day avatar CDH!

Re: European GP F1 Picks are due HERE this Saturday (May 28) 7 AM
Very few picked Nick the Quick
Nice to see Williams mixing it up. What's too bad is that Ferrari is lagging, it could be a four-team battle at the front. As it is, it promises to keep getting interesting this season. Wait till Ferrari gets up to speed!
The funny thing is, this has nothing to do with rule changes, rather to do with the teams that should have been challenging for poles and wins (Williams and McLaren in particular) finally getting it together.

2005 European GP F1 Competition - Results & Review
This week's winner is JCraige, with a squeaker over sydude, TOCHO and Patzer Twin #1.
Here are the results and standings for this week, plus the graph:
Please check your picks by clicking here, which will also give you the full F1 game spreadsheet - click here There are a bunch of pages on the spreadsheet - you can navigate through them by clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the page. It contains lots of useless and exciting graphs and formulas, etc..

Re: 2005 European GP F1 Competition - Results & Review
19 points! We suck!
But...
I suck less!
Soooooo here goes the review.
In what turned out to be a real barnburner, jcraige, with 19 points, squeaked out a 1 point victory over SwingOnIt2, Tocho, and Team Sydude. Yes indeed, the crowd went wild with excitement at the prospect of the backmarker's backmarkers, SwingOnIt2 and jcraige, being in a position to tie for the win. These two overachievers duked it out and now both of them have a combined total just slightly above Team Duo who maintains his lead with 218. Team Keneba @ 211 remains the only other team above 200. I should get there by China I think.
The rest of the crowd somehow managed to stay behind these front runners. Someone once said, "slower then the fast guys, but somehow slower then the slow guys..." This applies here. 19 points. Pathetic. Chuckles the minature seeing eye pony could do better than that.
Hats off to spintowin. It's been awhile since I have seen someone get one point. I think mathematically, that's got to be harder then any other score to get other then zero. There should be an award for this I think.
Hat's off #2 goes to RaysRoyce. He pulls a doughnut this week and still manages to stay at the top half mark in #13. I need to steal his picks.
Now where is the spellchecker for this sucker...

Re: 2005 European GP F1 Competition - Results & Review
This was a real Yogi Berra, "It ain't over 'till it's over" week.
The smart money was on KR and JPM so the KR pickers were poised for a big point jump for (almost) the entire race. RS & MW broke a lot of hearts with their lap one exits but the big thumbs up or down was JPM's failure to contend.
Of course, Alonso's final push forced KR to run his vibrating squared right front until the carbon fiber suspension shattered on the last lap. That dramatic finish made NH the spoiler who kept the status quo in most of the point leader group.
Not a lot of position movement for our group but a pretty good race for F1.
