Lightbulb What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

Would you guys be interested in taking pictures of your custom painted helmets and putting them up in a special gallery on the website? I think it would be pretty cool and it's so easy to setup.

Please vote.

Perhaps even include a description of why the helmet is painted as it is...

Re: What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

Each Series could have a poster made up of drivers' helmets and ID, as a momento of the series. Could set up with a white background with consistent placement so that the size of the image would be consistant. Merge all images in a poster format and would make a really nice mountable image that could live forever in a den or garage. I'll bet Doug Harrison could devise something that would work.

Oh No! Stone chips are like sword scars on your sheild. Too clean a finish is the mark of a helmet left on a shelf.

If Doug does a poster, it would make a great mechanics fund auction, especially if all the drivers posted signed. Great idea Carl!

Re: What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

poster sounds like a cool idea, it would be a pleasure, get those helmet shots in early kids, I can start compiling/enhancing them for print. High resolution photos always best but if you have the means, please scale them down before uploading (keep image dimensions reasonable, 600 pix wide more than enough). If anyone needs assistance email me.....

Could somebody who can translate this let me know the camera to buy/use to make this happen? I'd be glad to take it on but not sure of the specs Doug requires. This could be very cool.

Ok, guys. It sounds like you all wanted to see a helmet gallery...so I just put one up.

Go to the Pictures Gallery (Click on the 'Pictures' button in the TJR header above) and check it out. Then take out your camera, take some pictures of your helmet and upload your favorite one by clicking on the 'upload' link. If you need any help, please let me know.

Enjoy!

Hello everyone! Long time no see I'm all for the gallery, but I was wondering - will a picture of a skippy helmet with some colored tape on it be good enough?

Ivo,

I'd love to see your special helmet!

I've got one with a few cracks in it I'll try to post later. These things work really well.

Thumbs up Re: What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

Hey Ivo, how's it hanging?

I have a spiffy "custom" (note the quotes) paint job on a not-so-spiffy helmet. If you have the guts to post a skippy helmet, I have the guts to include mine

Re: What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

Hey guys, i was just kiddin' I don't have a skippy helmet, but if I race anytime soon and still have to use one, I'll make sure I take some pictures of it! Bobo - this is not the right thread, but I want to express my support for the Star mazda series. I have no doubt you'll come back stronger after this accident - you are no quitter!! I don't know what this Houston street course looks like from inside the cockpit, but on TV it looks like an awfull track. I mean with all those bumps and walls around you it's much more of a gamble than most tracks and accidents happen to anyone. Anyway - you'll get them next time. They'd better let you race!!!!! What's up with that bull....?! Btw I will try to get up to LR for the nationals and I hope to see some of you guys up there.

Clearly this sort of nonsense is my calling... The HANS wasn't on there all that long and got no wetter than it would have on a hot day sitting on my shoulders for half an hour.

Sy:

I assumed that since you did Dario and Pete's that you would personally take photos of everyone's helmet as a favor! I for one haven't had time to even think about it. I am sure other guys are in the same boat.

I will try to get it to you soon.

Thanks, Chris. When you're ready you can upload it right to the helmet gallery. Use the link I provided above.

Re: What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

Anyone who wants a photo of their helmet done can catch up with me at the Glen! I will be there with camera in hand as usual and would be happy to take pix. And can I get a mini version of the poster so I can figure out who's who out on the track? That would be very cool to have.

Sue

PS Pat, that picture is freakin' great!!!!!

Sue! I'm with 'ya. Roso is leaving me the SBRS digital camera and we'll set up a seamless background cloth and get every helmet that appears at Watkins Glen. I'll be there starting Monday. We'll even get Ivo's of he'll come. We have five colors of racing tape. Customize as you will.

Re: What do you think about a 'Member's Helmet Picture Gallery'?

Bravo, Brava Carl and Sue! Can't wait to see the custom paint and tape jobs for the poster

I want to preserve the natural luster of my helmet. Do need a smoke visor and some TJR visor strips that will fit it though.

The other great conveniece of this helmet is that you don't need a HANS device when you use it. You simply clamp it to the roll hoop and you're good to go. The national guys were begging to use it at Lime Rock where there was so much rain that when one guy flipped in the turn 3 run-off pond he required a scuba diver rescue. On board oxygen tanks are a safety option.

That will be the state-of-the-art helmet for the new skippy car- provided we DO run deep sea races and the cars are equiped with Humvee-style snorkel. Watch out for the tire-eating spiny puffer fish and those Schools of fish. 10 points on your liscense for every one you hit
