Lodging around VIR?

Believe it or not, in all my years at SBRS my first ever visit to VIR will be at the end of the month. Any recommendations on lodging? It appears that there is still room at The Lodge, but are there any other hotels nearby? Their recommended off-site hotel is 30 minutes away. My in-laws don't live too far away, but unfortunately they are just beyond the range of driving back and forth each day.

No restaurant at the Lodge, but it is a great place to stay in my opinion. THe rooms are nice and it is pretty darn convenient! Glad you are joining us!

No lodging that I know of close to the track, Danville,VA is closest and 20-30 min drive. I stay with my folks in Chapel Hill NC which is 50 min away, distance worthwhile if you're staying with people you know, but too far for a hotel.

Re: Lodging around VIR?

I'd say grab The Lodge rooms if they are available as they are comfortable and couldn't be more convenient to the track. The suite's are nice too if you have enough in your group to amortize the cost. The garage rooms are a little too close to the track in my opinion.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Re: Lodging around VIR?

Thanks for the info guys. My in-laws are in Lewisville, N.C., which is just under two hours from VIR. I'm driving down so I will visit them Sunday night. I think I will take a crack at one of the Lodge rooms. I'd rather have to travel for food and be able to sleep in a bit than the other way around. See y'all at the track. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Lodging around VIR?

There is a nice restaurant on the grounds and the rooms have small refrigerators in them so you can pick up cold cuts, drinks and fruit if you like and have a place to keep them cold.
