This is a test thread to work through some technical problems encountered since our host moved servers on us over the past month. Please feel free to help by any issues you've encountered.
Well, this reply got posted, but I have had a heck of a time getting some of my replies to post. Especially if I want to preview it to check for spelling errors, last minute thoughts, etc. It seems to hang forever and then time out.
The other thing that I have noticed is a tendency for the main page to load from the right side and hang for a while, though that seems a minimal inconvenience.

Ok, so there are some significant problems with the new hosting servers in general, and they're working on it. So not much for me to do right now - I'll get back to you all when I hear more, but til then please deal with the general slowness and problems as best you can. Sorry.
Also, whenever I post and press" submit reply" button the computer seems to hangup and not recylce to the thread. If I hit submit again it tells me it already posted my reply.
Haven't been able to post for the last week. Server times out. Have tried once a day for a week. If this one posts it will be the first.
edit: so this one posted but it took about 30 sec. You can imagine the mental anguish I've been going through, returning from the other side of the planet and not being able to say whassup to my homies for a whole week.

A lot of good that trip did! You get home and are fried immediately from not being electronically connected at warp speed? Chill, bro'.
"Warp?" 2 full minutes with nary a peep from the server hardly makes it into IC territory, never mind impulse power. I'm several branching orders closer to the backbone and upload times go infinite? In the 21st century? "First" World? Deep-fried.
"Chill?" After 4 weeks at 8000 ft where my bedroom (and bathroom ) measured 45F at night, I no longer use that term lightly. I'm quite happy being warm, thank you.

The site is a mess. Slow and/or unresponsive. Home page off kilter. Not blaming you Sy but what do we have to do to get this fixed? No E-mails when new posts happen. Can't get pictures uploaded. Respond posts won't load. Yipes! Happy New Year!

the last time we had this problem it was due to host sharing server with other sites (ok there) and allocating resources to sites based on demand and other criteria (not good). I have no idea who is hosting now, Sy, when you get back and have a minute we need to review all this so we don't rely solely on you for fixes
thanks for your help dude

OK, last couple posts I stumbled across this - waiting for a post to post - I clicked reload / refresh then went back to the thread even tho browser had not finished posting and voila, my post was there. I believe a post hits right away, but the browser just sits there. I tried it again and it works - not a fix but a time saver till all bugs sorted out. BTW, I also Ctrl A then Ctrl C (select all and copy my post) in case my post evaporates into cybercrap, that way I just paste and have it back...

thanks Sy, the navigation / posting / editing speed all much better in SW CT. Gallery images load more slowly though, did host move folders around or Imagemagick still off? I'll take faster navigation over image loading speed anytime...videos seem to buffer quickly, playback fine, looking good - much appreciated!!

Did this after about 15 sec and the post was there. Strange, but it works.
Couldn't upload new avatar. Timed out. Tried x 3. Refresh ploy described above didn't help here, still old avatar.

I got an E-mail update when Pat posted to the HBD thread. I'm currently on dial-up in NW PA, and haven't had any problems with this response. Let's see what happens when I click 'submit reply'.
*Didn't have any issues posting, and didn't seem to take any longer than usual with dial-up. Less than 1min, probably, and it took me back to the thread page, as usual.
Wow, what a drought. I could not access the site at all until this morning. Everytime I tried the usual Skippy Forum link, it redirected to teamjuicyracing and a generic "page not found" message. I cleaned out every cache and cookie but nothing.... until this morning.
Thanks for all the efforts Sy, Doug, and everyone else! I realize even more just how much I love this community.
For some reason I can access the site and navigate it fine but my posts won't engage? Frustrating. Can't upload pics or posts longer than a sentence. If this one posts it'll be a breakthrough. Gods way of forbidding crushing word count.

I just tried adding photos to the gallery. While I was able to, it was a tedious affair. The point where you actually select photos for uploading, it was not possible for me to select a group. I had to select each photo one at a time, mulitple clicks and windows per photo. The older interface that allowed multiple selections for the initial upload is not present.
Otherwise, everything is working rather well for me today. Sorry Pat. I'd love to wave a Harry Potter wand and make it work for you too. "REPARO!"
Quote's won't work... I get the quote in a response screen but when comments are added it won't post. Uploading pictures is the same thing. Response screen works fine until uploading a picture is tried. Then it won't upload and the comments won't post either.
Thanks for the wand wave Gerardo but the spell just hasn't been broken yet. We'll get there eventually.

Until we fix registration verification we need a new header on all pages -
"Attention Spammer Dorks
WE USE HUMAN VERIFICATION FOR ALL REGISTRATIONS ON THIS SITE. DO NOT BOTHER REGISTERING AS YOU WILL BE INSTANTLY BANNED AND VAPORIZED. PLEASE JUST CRAWL BACK UNDER THE FEAKIN ROCK YOU CAME OUT FROM UNDER ...YOU DORKS"
I have banned 32 spammer parasites in the last couple days. It is like an invasion of locusts. Hey spammers, just leave, nothing for you here, nothing to see, move along, get the eff out, etc.

Hey Doug, methinks yer yelling at bots. I don't think they can hear you. But it is entertaining for those of us who can. Sort of reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George is describing Mrs Louis Pasteur killing cockroaches with her shoes. "Why were there so many cockroaches?" "Because of all the cake..."
Glad you're out there on our wall while we lie in bed sipping hot chocolate, reading the NYT and Utne, and wiggling our warm toes in our soft jammies...
that's funny - yes, when I'm not howlin at the moon I am yelling at bots - some are bots, some are not - have interacted with some human spammers for yuks, some reply some don't - strangely amusing.
Looking again and God that banner is horrendous, down she comes
thanks for the H

The newest update I have is that our host didn't install ImageMagick on the new server, and has left it for me to do. As soon as I can figure out how to do it, it should solve a bunch of our issues. Till then, hang on please.
Until a couple bugs get sorted out, registration has been turned off. If you would like to join the forum we can work around the block. Please email Doug Harrison at cdh@harrisonvideos.com and I'll get you registered.
Thanks

So frustrated... Can't get posts longer than two sentances or any pictures to post... Am I the only one?

same here with pics using attachment manager, haven't posted anything lengthy so no idea on that. Imagemagick is at the root of reg and picture bugs, Sy is working on it, yes, frustrating.

Thanks Doug, just posted to the car of the decade thread and tried to embed a link... No link and my edit/quote boxes disappeared at the bottom. Wacky stuff.

testing and this uploaded, although a small file and it took too long, so DD if you are trying to upload some large file pics it might just be timing out, or it might take a very long time. Do a test upload of an image with a small file size and see.
didn't notice 10,000 posts, wow

Just tried to upload a single picture file and it timed out with the upload box showing "sending request to skippyforums.com" at the bottom. It never seemed to engage the request.

Tested and I was able to upload some larger image files into the chop shop gallery. I added 2 pics to upload but only one posted so I had to repeat the process for each pic and it was fairly slow going. Program still not right but basics can be done.

CDH, Just uploaded three full-pixel photos (not downsized or compressed) from Road America. All three went in one upload, and it was a little slow, but not unexpected.

So the site is now as fast as I've ever experienced it in terms of response time but I still can't get a picture or a long post to take. The speed is fabulous but the picture upload and post size issue still lingers. Sure feels like we're going in the right direction though.

Yes! We have fast upload speed and full functionality once again. Can upload pictures, make long posts and use quotes... May wonders never cease! Thanks to Sy, Doug and Greg for improving the quality of our virtual clubhouse life enormously... Makes you appreciate what, until recently, we took for granted.
