New York Times

Just read the SBRS piece in the Saturday NY Times, great PR (is that positive enough CDH), but I wonder if Mazda thinks the same? The phone was ringing from Westport . Here is how I would score it:

Dodge - 5
Mazda - 0

Assists go to Murph, MacInnes, & Stephan

Re: New York Times

Nice article, I especially like the title "Exeutive Pursuits". I wonder if the article would be aptly titled "Executve Pursuits - How to Spend a Large Chunk of Change Doing Something You Are Absolutely Addicted To" . Nice to see some positive coverage for SBRS, it will probably bring a fresh crop of rookies to the race series.

Re: New York Times

That was a nice piece, I would love to see something done about the race series. Most of the PR is usually about the school which is great, but a piece to showcase SBRS highly competitive regional race series could get the phone ringing too.

I think you are dead on, Don. Someone needs to do a piece on the race series, not for a racer's magazine, but for a widely circulated mainstream mag, with photos and interviews of everyone who's in the thick of it-- instructors, drivers, mechanics, family. There is so much positive energy and high-quality competition out there, it can't help but come across.

Here is the link to the article and the video. I remember my three day like it was yesterday. What a ball.

Re: New York Times

Do I have this right??

This reporter reads the word MAZDA on the car and misspells it DODGE for the article????

Reminds me of the time I was driving with a friend who happened to be a US Marshall. The guy in front of us did something wierd and when I complained he reminded me that there was no statute prohibiting driving while stupid.

Re: New York Times

BTW, did HE have to pay for the damage to the side pod??? Otherwise, a good article that makes me yearn for that first day back in the school car! I wish I'd have paid more attention to car control and not tried to go so fast. Agree with all...more attention to the series is needed to promote more interest.

Re: New York Times

Jim,

Don't you also remember how famous you were made on the Discovery Channel?

Don, Discovery Channel did a nice documentary for us, perhaps 15 minutes long during one of their regular shows. They did many replays during that season. I bet someone has the digital file somewhere...

Re: New York Times

The Times video is great and gives Bruce, Stephan and Murph great airtime.

The Discovery Channel program was a short lived serious having to do with dangerous hobbies of some sort. Does anyone remeber the name of the series?

That file was lost. I think it happened when someone bribed the file owner but I can't remember.

In fact, now that I think about it, that file never even existed. It tried to exist but was killed. Sad really.

But if it did exist, you would have seen a really "cool" guy plant an RT into the ARMCO on No-Name.

Re: New York Times

Jim is right: that file contains unique, gripping footage

I bet that file is "hidden in plain sight." Like Poe's Purloined Letter, which was hidden by pinnng it to a BULLETIN BOARD
