World's Best Emergency Lane Change

This piece of video should be shown at every Skip Barber driving school as a really compelling reason to know the emergency lane change maneuver. It's absolutely amazing. Looks like a video game nightmare except that it's real.

Love the exchange afterward when the woman ask's "You OK?" and he says "Yes" with a bite in his voice the belies the stress of having just escaped something bad by a slim margin. Kind of a "Don't bother me now I'm busy tone when, in fact, he's already done but hasn't quite realized it yet.

Kudos to the driver for having high enough eyes to see it coming and drop back behind the semi on his right to leave room for the maneuver. Second tip of the cap for recovering so nicely as the road conditions were not conducive to extreme avoidance lane changes. Most people would have thrown it off the road. Thought he got through unscathed but just noticed the windshield cracks as they pass.

The way the truck comes through the barrier and disassembles itself toward him looks like a CGI creation.

wow just wow! Paying attention and having his eyes up ahead of the road and not 5 feet infront of him! Saw the truck on the incoming traffic comming and did exactly what he needed to, to live and have a crazy story/video! Very very amazing video which could of ended very horribly!

Great stuff, but who videos their ride to work?

Maybe a cop or anyone with a GoPro camera?

Exactly what I thought as the video started. Amazing job though all around...like Pat said, having high enough eyes to drop back from the semi and especially having the situational awareness to know that the next two lanes over were available to him. Thanks for that post, Pat. Fantastic.
