Skip Barber Car Update
Folks,
In our recent customer survey at Lime Rock, many of our customers cited Car Quality as an area the company needs to improve. Please see Matt Morris' update on car progress including our campaign for the new Mazda engine. Sincerely, Kevin Seidl
For Formula:
We continue to install upgraded A-arms through attrition, but have a scheduled campaign in November to replace all 4 corners on every car rolling out of Atlanta. New fiberglass arrived in July and 10 full cars have been outfitted…next shipment scheduled to arrive in November and we have an Atlanta area vendor who will be providing a complete set to run in the Atlanta regional for testing for future orders. We are conducting feasibility tests on black powder coated wheels on the computer car for potential fleet conversion when feasible. All cars are undergoing thorough, scheduled preps prior to each race week. Seats and restraints are being replaced/upgraded with new. Mazda MZR engine fitment has moved into mock up phase and is scheduled to test in December/January with new engine control unit eliminating need for Supertrapp and restrictor plates. We received in new steering racks and are replacing through attrition. Aluminum radiators are being installed to increase performance reliability and Borla continues to mock up exhaust systems to decrease dB/maintain performance and will be testing different configurations during the Atlanta regional in November. 25 car sets of shocks are expected in November. Windscreens will be replaced by December as we sourced new vendor and ordered. Race DNF Mechanicals has contiued to fall from the high point of Road America when 15.87% of customers experienced a Race DNF to Lime Rock's .093% have custromers experienced a DNF. Nine percent of customers experiencing a DNF is no reason to celebrate but I share this folks to show a directional chamge in terms of car quality.
For MX5 Cup Cars:
Borla exhaust conversion is complete on both coasts . Penske shock conversion 90% complete on east coast; scheduled to be complete on both coasts by December. Cup Car Race DNF Mechanicals for the Summer series were a mere 2.75% of 109 race customers…that’s right…only 3 Race DNF mechanicals all summer! We ran with Playboy Cup during Petit le Mans. Cars getting thorough, scheduled preps prior to every race. Beginning process of replacing seats/harnesses in Q1.
Sincerely,
Matt Morris
