Re: Test Day
Peter,
A nice description of your feelings about the Test Day. It is a very good value. One area that sets it apart from just lots of Lapping is it should provide a "goal" for the session! Now you have a plan...check your speeds.
To paraphrase "Exit Speed is King...and Entry Speed is the Ace!" There is a balance where the two are highest to give best lap times.
Min speeds are very helpful. In a car with just the tach or speedo one can "check the tach" when going back to power. In Skippy cars it is always about keeping the lowest rev above 4500. This sounds rather busy but really only slightly more difficult than checking exit speed alone. It requires adding a new item to your corner "check list" but provides the information you are seeking.
Give it a try sometime at a corner you know well. A quick glance at the tach as you are approaching the apex and getting back to power. Next lap release the brake sooner and power sooner, the number will be higher and you know it now!
The information is already right in front of you, just look at it.
Look forward to seeing you soon.
JP
