My offroad prerunner cage design

I'm not sure if anyone here other than Roger has interest in desert racing or offroading in general, but I figured I'd post up the cage designs I've been drafting for my Bronco prerunner using a trick piece of software I just got called Bend-Tech Pro, which makes it really easy to do. I bought all of the hydraulic tube bending, rolling and notching machinery as well (I just started an offroad racing/crawling products fabrication business) so we'll be building it all in house.

The goal of this cage is to provide maximum safety to both front and rear seat passengers while still allowing easy access to the rear seats (the Bronco only has two doors) and to the cargo area, as well as increasing the stiffness and strength of the chassis/body. In this iteration, OEM 3-point belts will be utilized so harness bars are not needed, but harness bars and additional bracing will be added for its Baja 1000 duties in 2013 (more on that later!) Finally, not shown are the pieces that tie the cage to the frame, using urethane bushing assemblies. Most tubing shown is 2" x .120" wall DOM (drawn over mandrel), and the windshield bars will be either 1.75" or 1.5".

This is a work in progress, so if any structural or chassis engineers out there see any areas of concern or improvement, please let me know.

Re: My offroad prerunner cage design

Sy,
Put me on your "Off-Road" list since about age 10! First surplus Jeep was a '51 Willys at age 13. Have had dozens of Jeep, Scouts, Power Wagons, Land Rovers, Land Cruisers etc... and a couple Broncos. Craiger's link of my brother's PreRunner on the farm. A few on forum have been on "Mr Toad's Wild Ride".
Llnk below was half time at Tough Truck Challenge. Stilling laughing...

Take care, build it strong!
