Videos Gilles - Nose Job in the Wet

Classic in every way - from Waki;
"At the 1981 Canadian Grand Prix Villeneuve damaged the front wing of his Ferrari and drove in heavy rain with the wing obscuring his view. There
was a risk of being black flagged but eventually the wing detached and Villeneuve drove on to finish third with the nose section of his car missing."

Also enjoy hearing Jackie commentating, very nostalgic
.

Large mechanical cutaway illustration of the 126c, Ferrari's first F1 turbo...makes Gilles rain driving even more laudable

Re: Gilles - Nose Job in the Wet

Frickin AWESOME driving!! Man did that guy know how to handle a car. You can see the tail wag as he gets on the throttle out of corners, and as he brakes for the hairpin. That first time through the hairpin was so great I watched it several times. I wouldn't be surprised if he was brake-turning through there! And then he has to save it as the wing knocks the rear of his car the opposite way as it falls off and makes contact with the left rear. It was also hilarious with Jackie saying, "And that is absolutely terrible for Gilles Villenueve" several times and Gilles just keeps motoring around the track.

"My God, he's going to continue!"

Thanks, Doug.
