Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
Good day everyone. Having just participated as a new racer in my first weekend event at Watkins Glen I am looking forward to my next opportunity to race at Lime Rock where I've driven previously for both my 3 and 2 day. I've also signed up for Lime Rock again in October but was thinking of changing that to the event at Mid Ohio. Any thoughts? Thanks

Re: Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
The October LRP is the Season Finale, usually a fun weekend to be there, great races, awards banquet, gorgeous Autumn colors (usually )

Can't stand the thought of waiting between July and October to drive...love the sport...and going broke doing so! But is there a better way? Nah

Do both. Mid O is a fantastic technical track. LRP for all the reasons Doug cited and more.

Re: Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
if you are already doing lrp in july and you are not running the full season, do mid ohio instead of the season finale at lrp. mid ohio might be a boring town, but the track is a lot of fun. plus, now there are no concrete patches on the track since they repaved it. mid-o is one of my favorite tracks with it's 3 consecutive straights and the tight turns that follow. lrp is a good track but it's bumpy and like a bull ring almost.

Re: Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
do mid-o.... learn a new track. it will help you grow as a driver and will help down the road if you do a whole season.

Re: Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
LRP - fast track, turn straightaway turn straightaway etc. You can mess-up turn 5 and be ok in turn 6.
MO - slower track, linked turns, screw-up turn x, you're still in trouble at x+2, just like skiing. Limited passing.
When I was there (MO) Ron Capps (NHRA funny car driver) showed up. I figured what could this guy know about road racing. As it turned out a lot more than I did.

Re: Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
Quit fooling around.
Come to Road America end of the month for a real road course where you can draft, pass, learn a new track, eat brats...
Only problem, it's so good I bet it's sold out.

Re: Lime Rock vs Mid Ohio
DEFINITELY do Mid-Ohio. Fabulous track with a very interesting mix of corners. Maybe not quite as hair raising as Lime Rock but very challenging and rewarding in its own right. The linked sequence of turns from 7-11 is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
