Hello

Hello to everyone on here. I just logged on for the first time. I have never posted to one of these forum sites so please bear with me while I learn how it works. Paul Subject recommended that I check out this forum so blame him if I do something wrong. Congratulations to Greg on his Masters summer series win. I just completed the best summer of my life...finally getting into a race car after a 30 year wait. The day after the summer series ended I wanted to get back in a car and race. Is anybody going to Sebring for the top 12 race? Are any of you racing on iRacing?

Re: Hello

Hi David - you were a strong contender for most improved!

I greatly enjoyed racing with you.

Ashley will easily win that shootout and i have never been to that track - but it is a great idea!

Re: Hello

Welcome David, glad to have you aboard.

Would love to do the top 12 but it's a little too close to the holidays for me. I'll probably go down in February to start tuning up for the spring.

Have shared your late start addiction for 7 years now and the only cure is being on track.

Was gifted an iRacing set-up last Christmas and still haven't gotten around to it. It's on my fall to-do list. Will let you know when I get it.

The only thing you can do wrong around here is not post... So keep it up! Would love to hear more of your experience this year.

Pat

Re: Hello

Welcome aboard David - you will find lots of entertaining and enlightening stuff on the site as well as the odd bit of tomfoolery (or as Nick Nick calls it assholery) to keep everyone amused. Although not as good as being in the race car, the site keeps us connected to all things Skippy, racing in general and to each other through our own dedicated forum.

As far as racing in the top 12, I will be saving my sheckles for a tune-up (and maybe an ADV2) at Laguna next spring, before the summer season starts. As pat has so succinctly pointed out the only cure to the Skippy bug is more seat time!!!!!!! Go for it!!

Believe the technical term is Jackassery.

Ummm, I've now seen a couple of references to it, and I suspect that I am nowhere near eligble (nor have time in the school schedule), but just out of curiosity, what is this "top 12" event?

WTN, like myself, I believe the Watts 'blue flag' quote applies here

Re: Hello

Here's the body of what I received. The top 12 of each of the three series are invited. Unfortunately no masters cup or prize.

Summer is over, but that doesn’t mean the racing has to be. Whether or not you’re planning on running in the Winter Series, I wanted to let you know we’ve put together one final event for our 2010 Formula Series racers.

It’s a final run off between the top twelve competitors of all three Regional Formula Series: The Western, Southern and Summer Series. We’re bringing the best of the best to compete in a final end-of-the-year battle. It’ll take place December 17-19 at Sebring International Raceway and for $4,999 will consist of a series of practice sessions, a qualifying session, a heat race and then a main race.

Along with the “Best of the Best” title and a shiny trophy, the winner will receive $25,000 Barber Bucks for future Skip Barber National Race Series events.

Re: Hello

Hey David, nice to hear from you, I raced against someone named David Knight on the iRacing skippy a while ago, was not sure if it was you or not.

Re: Hello

If it said DavidKnight2 that would be me. Apparently DavidKnight from Australia signed up before me. I met him at an iRacing skippy race at VIR a couple of months ago. We raced closely for many laps but in the end my stellar skippy exit speed coaching from this summer paid off and I pulled away from him...he crashed trying to keep up.
